Banner Engineering Introduces SLM Series Metal Slot Sensors
The U-shaped metal housing of the SLM sensor makes it versatile, durable and easy to use, explained Jeff Curtis, senior application engineer for Banner Engineering. Theres no need to align opposed-mode emitter and receivers. The SLM emitter and receiver are in fixed arms of the housing. You just install it, using the molded-in beam guides and integral mounting holes. Curtis adds, The SLM is available in a range of sizes, making it an ideal alternative to existing fiber and difficult to mount opposed-mode sensors.
Applications. The SLM Series sensors enable users to accurately detect small objects at incredibly fast throughput speeds. The SLM Series sensors are ideal for a wide range of applications in the printing, pharmaceutical, packaging, material handling and automotive industries. Examples include the following:

The compact, self-contained P4 OMNI and P4 OMNI 1.3 are available with two lens positions: in-line (on the end of the housing) and right-angle (on the side of the housing). Both versions measure only 66.8 mm wide; the in-line model is 136.1 mm long, and the right-angle model is just 124.5 mm long. The included mounting brackets make it easy to attach the P4 OMNI and P4 OMNI 1.3 sensors to machines or conveyors. The units include three bi-color LED indicators that clearly show unit status during setup and operation. Models operate on 10 to 30V dc. Banner also offers hundreds of lighting and lensing options to solve even the most challenging applications.
