Flow-Cal to monitor El Paso Pipeline
June 7, 2011 - El Paso Corporation’s Pipeline division selected Flow-Cal to provide an advanced gas measurement software solution. Headquartered in Houston, TX, the El Paso Pipeline Group’s 42,000-mile interstate pipeline system is the nation’s leading interstate natural gas pipeline franchise as measured not only by mileage, but also by access to key supply regions and major consuming markets.
Flow-Cal’s Enterprise system links larger, more complex operations to one central system, providing a common user interface to consolidate, review, validate, edit, store and report EFM data. El Paso Pipeline will be installing Flow-Cal’s latest release, FLOWCAL Enterprise Version 8, to replace a legacy system internally developed.
“Replacing an in-house developed system can be both costly and time consuming. However after thoroughly reviewing the Flow-Cal suite of products, we feel the long term benefits are well worth the efforts,” states Joseph Simonsen, Manager, Data Systems, Measurement Services with El Paso Pipeline. “The extensive validation options and management that the products offer will drastically increase efficiencies throughout our organization, impacting the bottom line.”
FLOWCAL Release 8 offers a number of features ideal for El Paso Pipeline. The enhanced system balancing functions will allow El Paso to identify and manage lost and unaccounted for gas in a timely manner. In addition, Flow-Cal’s elaborate data validation and editing features automate field data processing, therefore reducing the need for costly prior period adjustments (PPA’s).
“We are honored to have been selected for a project with such an esteemed pipeline organization,” states Duane Harris, Vice President of Sales and Support for Flow-Cal. “With the production group already utilizing Flow-Cal’s Enterprise and TESTit applications, we are excited to add another El Paso division to our growing customer base.”
