ITS to supply Plant Information System to Brunner Mond
Brunner Mond is a major international company that specialises in the manufacture of Soda Ash (Sodium Carbonate), Sodium Bicarbonate, Calcium Chloride and associated alkaline chemicals. These chemicals are the key raw materials used to manufacture a range of industrial, household and personal care items such as glass, detergents, biscuits, and life-saving dialysis treatments.
The company needs a reliable, robust Management Information System solution to link to an Emerson DeltaV system and replace the current PRISM system.
The recommended solution is a proven PRISM / Questar replacement system consisting of ITS’ FUSION PIMS product, layered onto an AspenTech InfoPlus.21 system. FUSION PIMS is a zero footprint, web-based reporting and data entry tool with an optional calculation engine for producing process accounting data. The product, based on an AspenTech InfoPlus.21 database was designed in 2000 for companies with locked down desktops and is ideal for regulated industries.
FUSION provides a single repository for all operational data. Its flexible and simple interface enables users to configure screens easily and efficiently, and to identify faults quickly. When integrated with an InfoPlus.21 database, FUSION enables users to manage weekly, monthly and yearly (periodic) operating reports, process loss accounting, batch information etc.
As well as providing the PRISM replacement, FUSION and InfoPlus.21 will offer the expandability to incorporate other legacy reporting and accountancy systems that may exist on site. FUSION is designed to allow the customer to make their own, controlled edits. Easier editing provides the opportunity for features to be added to the system easily in future.
Many types of data can be automatically retrieved from plant equipment, DCS systems, PLCs, or other databases, reducing the need for manual collection of data. The reliable solution will provide a reporting front end and will gather real time data for 'right first time' decisions to be made. The information gathered by the FUSION/ InfoPlus.21 solution will provide Brunner Mond with process improvements.
ITS has a strong background in regulated industries, including pharmaceutical, providing a wide range of skills through the whole project lifecycle. Activities range from providing assistance during the development of initial requirements and turning them into a User Requirement Specification; through implementation and onto commissioning and validation, using terminology that is understood in the industry.
“Our in depth knowledge of the AspenTech suite of products, the pharmaceutical industry, and system validation, together with the company’s desire to work in partnership with Brunner Mond, makes ITS an ideal candidate for the implementation of this project.” Malcolm Knott, Managing Director, Industrial Technology Systems Ltd.
