OSI Technology to supply SCADA system for water and power in UAE
As a national-level utility organization, the Federal Electricity & Water Authority (FEWA) is an essential pillar in the UAEs ongoing growth and development efforts. Charged with overseeing the nations federal utilities, FEWA also directly services four of the UAEs seven emirates, providing critical electricity and water services to more than 230,000 customers. This new Load Dispatch Center Project is part of FEWAs mission to further secure its status among the regions most progressive utilities.
In support of FEWAs ambitious modernization and expansion initiatives, OSI is providing a unified new control system of impressive scale, based on OSIs monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) technology; set to offer a consolidated management of UAEs transmission assets, as well as a portion of the UAE distribution infrastructure. This new system is set to streamline and upgrade FEWAs existing control center operations through the unified deployment of real-time supervisory control, high-voltage network analysis and distribution and outage management applications.
This evolutionary new project for FEWA will be implemented in cooperation with OSIs UAE Alliance Partner, Global Energy Technologies; and will encompass a wide array of specialized OSI products from the SCADA, EMS and DMS software suites. FEWAs new system will be utilizing OSIs next-generation Microsoft .NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI) as a unified interface for all operational applications. In addition to SCADA and real-time applications, a full suite of Transmission Management Applications including State Estimation, Contingency Analysis and Optimal Power Flow are included. For Distribution Management, the system will support Distribution Power Flow; Fault Isolation and System Restoration; Load Balancing; Automatic Feeder Reconfiguration; Outage Management and Analysis. This system will be replacing a legacy platform supplied by ABB.
This important new project in UAE represents another significant step in OSIs expanding foothold within the international utility market. Through our growing alliances with trusted international technology partners such as Global Energy, OSI is able to provide our worldwide family of users with the same industry leading support, expertise and delivery quality as our North American customers have come to appreciate. We welcome FEWA into OSIs family and we are fully committed to carrying this promising relationship successfully into the future, said Bharath Kumar, OSI's Director of International Operations.
Born of a desire to excel as an essential pillar within the ongoing growth and development of the United Arab Emirates, Federal Electricity & Water Authoritys vision, mission and values lead to a consummate service, on par with the regions leading utility providers, while always placing the customers needs and demands at its paramount concern. FEWA is responsible for overseeing the UAEs federal utilities and providing high-quality electricity and water services directly, to more than half of UAEs residents.
