May 4, 2009 - ACS Motion Control enhanced the drive operation of its MC4U integrated modular control system with the development of an advanced 4-axis high-voltage universal digital drive module. Designated the DDM3U-4-320V, this high-density drive module is the newest component available for ACS' MC4U machine controller. The DDM3U is ideal for demanding positioning applications including linear and rotary servomotors, step motors, and induction motors. Compared to other network-based solutions that have expensive logic and control components at the drive level, the DDM3U amplifier is fully controlled by a dedicated servo processor at the controller level. This reduces cost and improves performance, allowing for more advanced control algorithms including multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) control. Universal control algorithms and HW construction of these drives allow users to employ many different types of motors with the same HW, including DC brush motors, DC brushless/AC Servo motors (2 or 3 phase), stepper motors (open loop or sinusoidally commutated closed loop), and AC induction motors. This feature enables customers to design with a flexibility level that is not readily available in most other products. The card comes in a 2- or 4-axis version, with 1A continuous / 3A peak current rating or a 3A continuous / 9A peak current rating (per axis). The DDM3U provides up to 800W of continuous power (2400W peak) per axis and operates at 24-320Vdc Customers are guaranteed power protection to the DDM3U with over and under voltage protection, phase-to-phase and grounded short-circuit protection, over-current and over-temperature protection, and control supply missing protection. The DDM3U is specifically designed for use in ACS' MC4U system, combining powerful SW tools, excellent servo control, and high-performance electronics. Allowing a fully integrated 4-axis system controller to fit in a 9" MC4U chassis, or a 6-axis fully integrated system to fit in an 11" MC4U. The high-density layout makes this product ideal for space and cost limited applications. |
