SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 22, 2007 - The 82357B has Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity, parallel polling for fast response check of instruments and an improved transfer rate of 35 percent from the previous USB/GPIB release.

The 82357B is an updated model of 82357A, and provides a direct connection from a USB port on a laptop or desktop PC to GPIB instruments. Its USB 2.0 connectivity offers easy plug-and-play setup, as well as a high-speed GPIB transfer rate of 1.15 MB/s or better. With parallel polling capability, it allows fast response check from up to eight instruments in a single poll. The 82357B comes with industry-standard VISA I/O libraries software, so existing GPIB programs can be reused without modification. Since it is backward compatible with USB 1.1, users can directly replace their 82357A with 82357B.

At 1.15 MB/s throughput, the Agilent 82357B provides an outstanding read performance for small block transfers in most buffer size ranges. With the rising demand for lower startup costs across applications, the 82357B's competitive pricing allows an average of 13.8 percent savings on similar USB/GPIB interface.

"The release of the 82357B reaffirms Agilent's commitment to the market for high-performance connectivity solutions that are affordable and reliable," said Ee Huei Sin, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Basic Instruments Division. "And, our I/O products can be easily integrated into a system."

Agilent's range of I/O hardware also includes the 82350B high-performance PCI GPIB interface for Windows, E5810A LAN/GPIB gateway, E5805A USB/4-port RS-232 interface, E5813A networked 5-port USB hub, GPIB cables and adapter. The I/O hardware employs PC-standard interfaces so that GPIB and RS-232 instruments can adopt the simple plug-and-play setup and configuration. Being members of Agilent Open, they are easier to integrate into existing hardware and software.

U.S. Pricing and Availability
The Agilent 82357B USB/GPIB interface is available now. Pricing starts at $499.
