Banner enhances DX70 SureCross wireless network
Minneapolis, MN - October 2, 2007 - Banner Engineering Corp. announces the DX70 SureCross Wireless Network, an affordable, robust wireless sensing solution with high-performance capabilities. DX70 delivers a low-cost dedicated wireless industrial I/O system, providing directly mapped I/O using a Gateway and Node, each equipped with four discrete inputs and outputs, two analog inputs and outputs, and link loss output - all for under $1000. DX70 also offers two-way RX/TX communications with full acknowledgement and easy installation, making it a cost-effective, simple to implement solution for remote I/O applications or plant environments where conduit and wiring are impractical.

A Node on the DX70 network can be easily deployed and is used to gather information that is concentrated at a DX70 Gateway system controller, which can be located up to three miles away. DX70 uses a Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) protocol and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology to ensure reliable, secure data communication. In addition, DX70 offers an enhanced security feature called binding to minimize any possible noise or interference caused by other wireless products. DX70 Gateway and Node modules are self-contained in rugged, IP67 enclosures to deliver affordable, exceptional monitoring and control capabilities in challenging environments.

“With superior reliability, security and deterministic response capabilities, the DX70 Gateway and Node combination delivers a low-cost, robust wireless sensing solution with plug-and-play functionality,” said Chris Dales, Senior Application Engineer, Banner Wireless Division. “For under $1000, DX70 will provide high-performance sensing with two-way communications between devices designed for a wide range of factory, remote site or other challenging applications.” Dales adds, “DX70’s cutting-edge binding feature ensures that a Node and Gateway can communicate wirelessly without noise obstruction or signal interference for enhanced security and reliability.”

Applications. DX70 offers high-performance, low-cost wireless sensing with secure, robust communications in remote or hard-to-reach locations, making it an exceptional solution for a wide variety of applications, including:
  • Remote I/O data acquisition
  • Remote monitoring of towers or tank farms
  • Loading dock occupancy monitoring
  • Physical plant energy monitoring
  • Detection of water tank levels in ethanol plants
  • Train car location monitoring and marshalling in train yards
  • Parking ramp payment kiosk access and control

In addition, several features of the DX70 network make it particularly easy to set up and use:
  • High-performance sensing at an affordable price
  • Digital and analog I/O in a single unit
  • Compact, self-contained modules in a rugged, IP67/NEMA 6 design
  • Binding feature for enhanced security and reliable communications
  • Simple to install with plug-and-play functionality
  • Up to three mile range, depending on the environment
  • State-of-the-art FHSS wireless protocol and TDMA technology
  • Network ID selector for multiple DX70 networks per location
  • Bidirectional RX/TX communication for monitoring and control capabilities
  • Built-in signal strength indicator for real-time communications signal monitoring
  • Models available with internal, external or remote antenna options
  • 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz models to meet global communications standards
