Edmonton, Alberta - May 8, 2006 - Matrikon Inc. (TSX:MTK) today announced that industrial and special gases company BOC Group is expanding its rollout of Matrikon's complete control and information technology solution to 10 additional plants. The solution includes process data acquisition, control system performance analysis, process monitoring and advanced control technology components. The original contract to implement the solution at 50 plants has been completed. In addition, BOC Group extended its global software agreement to include new Matrikon products, such as ProcessDoctor Tai-Ji, which were introduced subsequent to the original agreement, signed in 2003. The new agreement also covers advanced control implementations on new BOC Group air separation units (ASUs) and hydrogen plants. "The application of advanced control technology fits well with our global operating model, delivering value on a consistent and cost-effective basis across all our operating regions," said Ian Minto, central team leader for instrumentation and control technology for BOC Group. "Matrikon's control and information technology software provides BOC with a platform to achieve improved throughput, control quality, reduce energy consumption and improve plant stability for the first 50 plants," said Peter Burton, advanced controls project manager for BOC Group. "We anticipate achieving similar results as we roll the solution out to the 10 new plants and look forward to continuing to work with the Matrikon staff." Amin Rawji, president and CEO of Matrikon stated: "Our partnership with BOC has been rewarding to both parties over the past five years and we look forward to continuing our collaboration to deliver ongoing value to BOC."
