B&R Announces New Industrial PC with 5 PCI Slots and RAID System

B&R Announces New Industrial PC with 5 PCI Slots and RAID System
The new APC620 with five PCI slots expands the Automation PC product line. The B&R Industrial PC units are now available with 1, 2 or 5 PCI slots. The new and largest APC620 is the first choice particularly for applications with multiple fieldbus cards.

The automation PC APC620 is available with Intel® Pentium® M and Celeron® processors for high-performance applications that require a powerful processor. These processors, which have been specially developed for mobile computing, also meet a key demand of industrial use: combining high processing performance with low power consumption. Even at 100% processor load, the APC620 runs without a fan.

At the same time, the new 5-slot APC620 version is provided with a RAID 1 hard disk system. All data is simultaneously and automatically stored on two hard drives. This double data storage means that when one hard disk fails, the PC will continue to run on the second hard disk.

The rest of the components are also highly modular: A Compact Flash slot is always provided on the base system and can be supplemented with another Compact Flash or a hard disk. In two additional slots, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM/CD-RW, floppy disk, hard disk or CompactFlash devices can all be connected.

In addition to this, B&R is offering the Automation Panel, a new generation of display units. Automation Panel devices can be operated up to 130 feet (40 m) away from the industrial PC. Modular link components are available for standard DVI, Short Distance Link, and Long Distance Link.
