Burkert Introduces New Mass Flow Devices

Burkert Introduces New Mass Flow Devices
Type 8712 Mass Flow Controller
The Type 8712 Mass Flow Controller (MFC) handles neutral, non-contaminated gases at flow rates as low as 20 cm3N /min and as high as 50 lN/min. This MFC offers automation professionals response times as rapid as 300 ms, with standard turn-down ratios of 1/50 (1/500 in special circumstances).

To attain these extraordinarily fast times — 4X faster than those achieved with conventional gas flow meters — the Type 8712 employs patented CMOSens® technology. This technology, enabling sensing of the smallest amounts of gas flow, embeds a heater element in the Type 8712’s bypass capillary tube. It also places two temperature sensors in the tube, one upstream and one downstream of the heater element. As a gas stream passes through the tube, directly contacting the heater element and a measuring chip, the measured difference between the two temperature sensors allows relationship to flow to be determined in a fraction of a second.

The Type 8712 outputs measured values at an accuracy of ±1 percent of Rdg., ±0.5 percent full scale. Linearity is ±1 percent full scale. Type 8712 repeatability is ±0.5 percent full scale, while maximum operating pressure (inlet pressure) is 145 psi, depending on nominal valve diameter. Fieldbus communications capabilities include PROFIBUS-DP and DeviceNet (others upon request).

The Type 8712 features an output signal of 0-5V, 0-10V, 0-20mA or 4-20mA. With a stainless steel body, the unit measures approximately 4.5 x 5.5 x 1.5 inches and weighs less than three pounds

Type 8702 Mass Flow Meter
Like the Type 8712, the Type 8702 Mass Flow Meter employs CMOSens® technology. Flow rates range from 20 cm3N/min to 50 lN/min, with an optional low-flow rate as low as 0.04 cm3N/min. Accuracy is ±0.8 percent o.R./±0.3 percent F.S., linearity is ±0.1 percent F.S., and repeatability is ±0.1 percent F.S. Response time is <300 ms.

Type 8626 Mass Flow Controller
The Type 8626 features flow rates from 25 lN/min to 1500 lN/min. This unit permits a constant gas flow or flow following a pre-defined set-point profile unaffected by interference (e.g. pressure variations). Accuracy is ±1.5 percent of rate/±0.3 percent F.S., linearity is ±0.25 percent F.S., and repeatability is ±0.1 percent F.S. Settling time is <500 ms.

Type 8006 Mass Flow Meter (inline)
The Type 8006 features flow rates from 25 lN/min to 1500 lN/min, and a response time of <500 ms. Accuracy is ±1.5 percent of rate/±0.3 percent F.S., linearity is ±0.25 percent F.S., and repeatability is ±0.1 percent F.S. A special version of this unit can be used with ammonia gas.
