C&K Components releases KMT Tactile Switch
NEWTON, MA (November 15, 2007) - C&K Components developed a new series of ultraminiature, low-profile top actuated tact switches. Designated the KMT series, this switch features the industry’s smallest footprint with an integrated actuator (push plate), and a 50% longer operational life as compared to similar products.

With an extended life cycle of 150,000 operations, gold and silver plating options and superior tactile feel, the KMT Series switch measures just 2.6mm x 3.0mm x 0.65mm, with a 0.45mm body height, 0.20mm actuator height and 0.13mm travel. An integrated actuator for simpler button design yields an excellent tactile ratio of 30% minimum, providing sharp feedback. The KMT tactile switches also have a grounding pin option for ESD protection as well as actuation force options of 1.6N (tactile ratio 30%) for mobile devices and 1.0N (tactile ratio 10%) for hearing aids and headsets.

“Designed to exceed industry demands for miniaturization and ultra high reliability, the KMT Series tact switches demonstrate C&K Components’ commitment to providing customers with innovative switch solutions for a variety of applications,” comments Jerome Smolinski, senior product manager for C&K Components.
