REDMOND, Wash., Dec. 3, 2007 - The CMSC Society, the eminent membership association for measurement professionals, today announced their "Call for Papers" for the 24th Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC). The annual event will be held in Charlotte-Concord, NC from July 21-25, 2008. Metrology users from leading manufacturers and science laboratories are invited to submit abstracts for white papers illustrating their successful application of 3D coordinate measurement systems. Submissions will be reviewed by the CMSC Society and considered for presentation at CMSC 2008. The deadline for abstracts is March 3, 2008.

Notification of acceptance will occur on March 18, 2008. Guidelines can be found at www.cmsc.org/callforpapers2008.pdf.

The CMSC is the only North American conference dedicated solely to users of portable, high-precision measurement technology used to inspect manufactured and assembled components on the factory floor.

Each year, the CMSC community convenes to gather information and attend white paper presentations delivered by their peers. Last year's presentations were delivered by industry leaders from The Boeing Company, AirBus UK, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Samsung Heavy Industries Company, John Hopkins University, U.S. Army Ordnance Museum, University of Melbourne, Australia, and more.

Many topics, applications, and industry best practices were presented at CMSC 2007 from large-scale rapid reverse engineering, to measuring and modeling a World War 1 Mark IV Female Tank, to new methods for large scale jig evaluations, to scripting metrology solutions, to surveying a 60-foot Antenna system.

CMSC is attended by users, service providers, and OEM manufacturers of close-tolerance, portable industrial coordinate measurement systems, software, and peripherals. Conference attendees hail from prominent science/research laboratories, and diverse industries such as aerospace, space hardware, antenna, automotive, shipbuilding, power generation, and general engineering.

About the CMSC Society
CMSC is a society of users, service providers, and OEM manufacturers of close-tolerance industrial coordinate measurement systems, software, and peripherals. The metrology systems utilized by industry and represented at the CMSC conference include laser projection systems, laser trackers, laser radars, photogrammetry/videogrammetry systems, scanners, and indoor GPS. The CMSC society gathers each year to gain knowledge of the advancements and applications of any measurement system or software solution that produces and uses 3D coordinate data.

About the Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference
The Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference is the world's premier event for Measurement Technology Professionals. This annual event is sponsored by the CMSC Society. Established in 1984, the five-day conference is held each year at a different location, and attracts visitors from around the globe. CMSC is renowned for its comprehensive program of top-shelf white papers and applications presentations given by industry experts from science/research laboratories and manufacturing industries such as aerospace, space hardware, antenna, automotive, shipbuilding, power generation, and general engineering.
