Contemporary Controls Introduces Industrial Ethernet Switch Family Starting at $99

Contemporary Controls Introduces Industrial Ethernet Switch Family Starting at $99
Downers Grove, Illinois - Contemporary Controls’ Skorpion family of Industrial Ethernet switches will provide reliable connectivity at a cost that won’t break your budget-starting only at $99 with a five-year warranty,” says Joe Stasiek, Sales Manager for Contemporary Controls. “End users and system integrators love the Skorpion’s small size saving room in control panels or distribution enclosures where DIN-rail space is at a premium. Why risk using office-grade equipment that can bring about network problems.”

Using switching technology, the EISK5-100T (Skorpion 5) provides five 10/100 Mbps shielded RJ-45 ports and the EISK8-100T (Skorpion 8) provides eight such ports.
Each port supports the auto-negotiation protocol in order to select data rate, duplex and flow control. All ports are Auto-MDIX compliant and therefore any port can operate as an uplink port to another switch, eliminating the need for crossover cables in the field.

The activity LEDs on these units face the technician, easing troubleshooting. The label on the unit can be written upon so port connections can be documented as to the location of connected equipment.

Switches are powered with power supplies commonly found in control panels, unregulated DC power source (10–36 V) or from an AC power source (8–24 V, 47–63 Hz). Power is provided through a quick-disconnect terminal strip.

The Skorpion family meets industrial standards. They are also RoHS compliant. The family is well-suited for usage in an industrial environment within a 0 to +60 degree temperature range. Stasiek says, “The Skorpion family meets our customers’ requirements for robust, user-friendly industrial switches at a low cost.”
