New Service Finds and Fixes Short-Circuit Current Ratings to Meet 2005 NEC® Requirements ST. LOUIS, Oct. 27, 2006 Cooper Bussmann today unveiled its new engineering service created to help industrial facilities and OEMs increase assembly short-circuit current ratings (SCCR) for control panels to comply with 2005 National Electric Code® (NEC®) requirements and UL508A standards. The Cooper Bussmann UL508A supplement SB (SCCR) pre-certification guarantee backs the Find It. Fix It. service. Cooper Bussmann will refund in full the money charged for this service if a customer receives a Variation notice from UL based on the rating or recommendations provided. Cooper Bussmann offers two levels of service: Most industrial facilities have a range of available fault currents based on the size of the incoming service, type of transformer and location of the electrical equipment in the facility, said Todd Lottmann, product manager - services. With our new Fix It service, Cooper Bussmann can help OEMs design industrial control panels with high short-circuit current ratings to cover most of the installations in an end-user facility and provide the assembly with greater flexibility to be moved without major concerns about available fault currents. The Find It. Fix It. service is an extension of Cooper Bussmann engineering services, including the OSCARTM compliance software package introduced earlier this year, which lets users accurately determine the assembly SCCR of more than 50,000 item part numbers at the touch of a button. The 2005 NEC specifies that industrial control panels, HVAC equipment, and industrial machinery controls be installed with the same short-circuit requirements as the rest of the electrical system. In addition, all equipment listed to UL508A must now be clearly marked with an SCCR so engineers and inspectors can quickly and easily verify that the assembly has an SCCR equal or greater than the available fault current levels. About Cooper Bussmann Cooper Bussmann provides productivity through protection to the electrical, electronic and transportation industries worldwide. Cooper Bussmann is a division of Cooper Industries (NYSE: CBE). About Cooper Industries Cooper Industries, Ltd. is a global manufacturer of electrical products and tools, with 2005 revenues of $4.7 billion, approximately 30 percent of which are international sales.
