Crystal Engineering updates FastCalXP 2.0 for HART
October 2, 2008 - Crystal Engineering Corporation released version 2.0 of FastCalXP, pressure gauge calibration software, adding the ability to calibrate pressure transmitters and utilize HART signals.

What has been unique about Crystal’s FastCalXP software is the speed and ease of use. Setting up the software and starting to calibrate pressure gauges or transmitters has never been faster or simpler.

Traditionally, when calibrating mechanical pressure gauges, a person applies a fixed pressure and then tries to estimate the position of the needle on the gauge. With FastCalXP, pressure is applied until the needle is on the desired point (using the GaugeCalXP Pressure Comparator) and then the actual applied pressure from the reference gauge is recorded digitally and automatically. This eliminates typing and transcription errors and is 7 to 10 times faster than using a deadweight tester. In less than three minutes, you can do a 10 point up and down calibration, including printing out a calibration certificate.

FastCalXP 2.0 can now be used to also calibrate pressure transmitters. FastCalXP records the applied pressure, milliamp output, and/or the HART signal (if available) from the transmitter, all automatically. FastCalXP cuts down pressure transmitter calibration time down to just a few minutes.

FastCalXP 2.0 is available separately, or as a part of CrystalCalXP, Crystal’s portable pressure gauge and transmitter calibration system. CrystalCalXP includes our GaugeCalXP pressure comparator, which when used without fluid, can calibrate differential pressure transmitters up to 300 inches of water. CrystalCalXP can be specified with various Crystal Engineering pressure standards and includes a comprehensive set of instrument test fittings, test leads, and a HART to USB adapter. This calibration system fits into a weather proof rolling case that doubles as a portable bench. The entire system weighs just 35 lbs/16 kg.

FastCalXP 2.0 is compatible with Windows 2000, XP and VISTA.

For over 25 years, Crystal Engineering has been producing innovative, portable pressure measuring equipment and software that are accurate, reliable and easy to use. Our products are intrinsically safe, CSA, ATEX, IECEx Scheme registered and DNV certified. Crystal products are used worldwide in a variety of applications such as refineries, pipelines, power plants, offshore platforms, oil and natural gas, nuclear power, petrochemical, aerospace, laboratory, manufacturing, measurement, calibration, environmental, transportation and maritime. You can find Crystal products on US Navy ships, NASA space shuttle flights and the International Space Station.
