May 10, 2007 - WOOD DALE, IL Danaher Motion has added three frame smaller sizes to its family of CARTRIDGE DDR direct drive rotary servomotors. Now available in five frame sizes ranging from 4.25 in. square to 13.78 in. square with four stack lengths per frame, CARTRIDGE DDR motors are a completely unique category of direct drive technology that feature pre-engineered components, an integrated, factory-aligned high resolution feedback device and a unique bearing-less design that facilitates maintenance-free mount and run operation in under 30 minutes. Conventional servo systems typically include up to 15 mechanical transmission components per axis of motion that can limit performance and reliability while increasing operational costs. Frameless direct drive systems can take weeks and even months of design and integration time. CARTRIDGE DDR motors bridge the gap by eliminating all mechanical transmission parts to provide maintenance-free operation in just minutes. Users will also benefit from increased machine uptime, a noticeable 20db noise reduction, and up to a fifty percent increase in accuracy and torque density compared with traditional servo systems, says Jeff Arnold, Technology Specialist for Danaher Motion. We believe the competitive up-front cost, ease and speed of installation, and significant lifecycle savings make CARTRIDGE DDR motors an incredibly attractive fit for new machine designs in the converting, packaging, printing, semiconductor and factory automation industries, he says. Because of their unique low-cost design, CARTRIDGE DDR motors are competitively priced when compared to traditional servo systems with mechanical transmissions. Even with a slightly higher initial cost, over a 5-year period of use CARTRIDGE DDR motors will reduce operating costs by more than $10,000 on a single axis of motion when compared to conventional servo systems. CE marked and UL listed for global application, CARTRIDGE DDR motors are available with 240V, 400V, and 480 V voltage ratings for maximum design flexibility and robust operation. They provide 4.57 to 510 N-m continuous torque, peak torque to 1017 N-m, and speeds to 2500 rpm. About Danaher Motion Danaher Motion is a leading global manufacturer of motion control products that improve the efficiency and productivity of complex manufacturing operations. Danaher Motions product innovations have been revolutionizing the motion control industry for over 60 years through trusted brand names including Dover, Kollmorgen and Thomson. |
