Danaher Motion Introduces A New High Performance Servo System

Danaher Motion Introduces A New High Performance Servo System
WOOD DALE, IL – Danaher Motion introduces a new high performance servo system consisting of a Kollmorgen S200 servo drive and Kollmorgen AKM servomotor. This system can be optimized to meet specific application requirements, making it an ideal solution in industries such as semiconductor fabrication, electronic assembly, packaging, medical, and woodworking equipment, among others.

The S200/AKM servo system features a SMARTFeedbackDevice that provides simplified setup and reduced installation costs by allowing a single connector and cable to provide system power and feedback. Industry leading 800Hz velocity loop bandwidth eliminates servo loop tuning in most applications. High resolution (24 bit) feedback and high performance 3-5 kHz current loop bandwidth provide smooth motion and rapid start and stop action to optimize machine performance. Optically isolated I/O, full fault protection and locking connectors reduce engineering design and support requirements, while separate control logic with “keep alive” power facilitates rapid recovery from e-stop conditions for increased machine throughput.

“This new servo solution is particularly attractive because it provides high system reliability, flexibility, performance and ease of installation, along with higher acceleration and industry leading torque/volume ratio in a smaller footprint, when compared with other servo systems,” says Bill Green, vice president of product marketing for Danaher Motion. “Features such as automatic setup, motor customization flexibility and single cabling options simplify design and reduce commissioning time ; the system is designed to provide the design engineer with a solution that is easy to use and fully optimized to meet specific application requirements.”

Additional features include:

* Higher acceleration and torque in a smaller footprint than comparably sized systems

Benefit: Reduced machine size with increased machine throughput and reliability

* Motors wound with non-overlapping coils
Benefit: Eliminates the potential for phase-to-phase shorting for more reliable, higher quality operation resulting in increased machine throughput

* Motors potted and IP65 sealed
Benefit: Reliable operation and long life in demanding applications
