Danaher Motion connects to MathWorks
August 29, 2008 - Danaher Motion has become a member of The MathWorks Connections Program. The partnership promises to bring significant value to OEM machine builders who are already using The MathWorks MATLAB and Simulink tools in multi-axis motion applications. By enabling the seamless integration of Danaher Motion’s powerful new MechaWare 3.0 mechatronic tool kit with the industry’s leading simulation software, Simulink, OEM design engineers will speed custom algorithm development, reduce costs and time-to-market.

The MathWorks Connections Program is available to third-party organizations such as Danaher Motion that develop and distribute complementary, commercially available products and services based on the MATLAB and Simulink platforms. Connections Program partners help MATLAB and Simulink users by providing industry or application-specific technology to fill their need for a complete solution. Partner products offer solutions that are seamlessly integrated with MathWorks products and ensure ongoing compatibility in conjunction with new MathWorks releases.

"We are truly delighted to be part of The MathWorks Connections Program”, says Michael Jellen, Business Unit Manager, Danaher Motion Performance Controls. “The partnership enables us to help machinery and robotics design engineers deliver superior motion system performance more quickly and with less cost. MechaWare and MATLAB custom algorithm and simulation tools provide a rapid development platform for both mechanical and software engineers,” he continues.

“The MathWorks is excited that Danaher Motion has joined the Connections Program,” says Tony Lennon, MathWorks Industry Manager for Industrial Automation. “MechaWare helps enable the use of Model-Based Design by our mutual customers, who realize the time- and cost-saving value of employing Simulink for mechatronic system design.”

MechaWare 3.0 is the industry’s only mechatronic toolkit for motion system design that seamlessly integrates mechanical systems and control software design resulting in faster design cycles, superior motion system performance, and faster time to market. Equipped with a library of standard function blocks that reduce the need for specialized knowledge of control theory, MechaWare delivers a streamlined workflow between control model development and real-time machine testing, with simple integration with MATLAB and Simulink, direct download of run-time code, and test and measurement of real-time machine performance. As a result, what previously took months of development time and often had to be outsourced to specialist consultants at a cost of 10’s of thousands of dollars can now be achieved internally, often in just hours.
