Datalogic Introduces the New Dragon™ Extra Long Range Bar Code Reader

Datalogic Introduces the New Dragon™ Extra Long Range Bar Code Reader
Bologna, 17th February 2005 Datalogic has extended its successful Dragon™ family of industrial readers with the introduction of the new Dragon™ D151 XLR hand-held bar code reader with an extra long range scan engine.

This new reader has been designed for industrial environments typically found in warehouses or manufacturing environments, such as data capture activities on forklift terminals, inventory management, and shipping and receiving even in subzero temperatures or on the shop floor and assembly lines.

With the extra long range scan engine the Dragon™ D151 XLR can read codes at a distance from 10cm (EAN) to 10m (reflective codes). This is especially useful for fork lift activities since the operator does not need to climb out to read bar codes positioned on top of shelves. The Dragon™ D151 XLR is equipped with a RS232 interface to guarantee full connectivity with most terminals, in particular Datalogic’s range of Rhino™ vehicle mounted terminals. Furthermore, it does not require an external power supply as it can be powered directly by the connected device.

This addition to the Dragon™ family is based on the same sturdy mechanics as all the other readers, so that it can resist drops of up to two metres. Furthermore, it is capable of operating in extreme temperatures from -30°C to 50°C, making it reliable in an increased number of applications in freezing environments.

The Dragon™ D151 XLR shares the same characteristics of the standard series, including a red spot for intuitive aiming and a complete set of accessories to increase its ease of use. In particular, the accessories include a universal holster to carry the reader when used in forklift truck applications, protecting it from shocks and vibrations, and a protective case to carry the Dragon™ on a belt and protect it from drops.

To simplify installation and maintenance, the Dragon™ D151 XLR comes with a CD-Rom which contains the basic application parameter settings and all the necessary installation information and system software configuration.

With the introduction of the Dragon™ D151 DLR, the Dragon™ family of industrial hand-held bar code readers is further enhanced, with a range of models that suit different customer requirements in terms of reading distance and bar code resolution.
