Bologna, 22nd May 2006. Datalogic announces the launch of the new Datalogic Jet Version 5, the evolution of the well-known professional PDA from Datalogic for mobile data capture operations. Based on the experience gathered with the Datalogic Jet, Datalogic has decided to develop a new PDAwhich is even more advanced and equipped with all the necessary features to respond to market needs. The new Datalogic Jet Version 5 is ideal for applications such as field force automation, retail in-store and warehousing, and enables companies to optimize the management of activities in all areas of a company's supply chain. The system architecture of the new Datalogic Jet Version 5 is based on Windows CE 5.0, the latest version of the Microsoft embedded operating system, and the new Intel PXA 270 520 MHz microprocessor, designed to optimize the performance of Windows CE. This new professional PDA is equipped with Flash and RAM memories that have been each increased to 128MB, to guarantee easier and quicker elaboration of data and more advanced performance. Furthermore, to optimize mobile applications a Mini SD card slot has been added, making it possible to expand the memory which is accessible by the operator for data back-up operations and store large-sized databases, etc. In this way great quantities of data can be saved and information shared between several PDAs or PCs simply by transferring the SD card. The new Datalogic Jet Version 5, available in the color black, still has the industrial characteristics of the previous version, distinguishing itself in this category for the high level of ruggedness and reliability and the fully integrated automatic data capture technologies (bar codes, tags and images). The new Datalogic Jet Version 5 is also extremely versatile, offering up to three wireless communication options in the same device: Bluetooth installed on all models, and optional Wi-Fi and GSM/GPRS. The possibility to have these three options simultaneously enables real-time communication of data and voice at the same time and in the same place as where the operation is carried out. This new professional PDA is completely compatible with the range of accessories for the previous model, such as the standard vehicle cradle or loudspeaker version, a cigarette lighter power adapter to recharge the battery, and the mounting kit for the computer on the dashboard. Additionally, to ensure the greatest operative versatility, the Datalogic Jet Version 5 is equipped with an interface for USB and RS232 communication. To conclude, the new Datalogic Jet Version 5 offers mobile professional data capture operators the necessary characteristics to ensure operability in any kind of environment: highest reliability, ruggedness, drop resistance, long-lasting batteries, versatile and fast communications in addition to efficient and variable data capture. Datalogic is the largest European manufacturer of CCD and laser-based bar code readers and mobile computers. The vast range of Datalogic products includes both manual readers and fixed industrial scanners that can satisfy any application need, particularly in the manufacturing, transportation and logistics, and distribution and retail industries. With their advanced technology, intelligent design, and solid reliability, Datalogic products have been setting the industry standard for over 30 years. Datalogic is present in the promising RFID market via its subsidiary EMS Inc. (Scotts Valley, California) with a leading position in the automotive sector, electronic manufacturers and warehouse management systems (WMS). In addition, with the recent acquisition of Laservall, the Group has entered the laser marking sector, that features extensive applications and outstanding growth prospects. Datalogic is quoted on the Milan Stock Exchange, and in 2005 produced revenues of Euro 205.9 million, of which over 80% is made abroad. It employs around 1800 staff world-wide and has its headquarters close to Bologna, Italy. Through its direct subsidiaries and Partner network, Datalogic is able to serve its customers world-wide guaranteeing the highest level of support. |
