August 4, 2008 - The second annual OMAC (Organization for Machine Automation and Control) Integration Symposium will be hosted by Okuma America Corporation at the Partners in THINC facility located in Charlotte, North Carolina, December 3-4, 2008. Presentations and demonstrations will focus on the theme of “Total System Evolution: Emerging Technologies for the Advancement of Machine Automation and Control.”

Highlights will include discussions on MES, PML, Robotics, and Plug and Play with hands-on demonstrations and networking opportunities for a broad range of manufacturing businesses. Representatives will speak on behalf of Okuma, ABB Robotics, ChipBlaster, Caron Engineering, Gosiger Automation, O3neida, P&G, GE Fanuc, and PTP Advanced Manufacturing Cluster.

OMAC is the organization for Automation and Manufacturing Professionals that is dedicated to supporting the machine automation and operational needs of manufacturing. Formed in 1994 as an organization, OMAC is comprised of three working groups: Packaging Machinery, Manufacturing Infrastructure, and Machine Tool. These groups lead the way in producing consensus guidelines to improve flexibility, improve capability, and reduce system integration costs.

OMAC members seek to improve the automation industry’s capabilities by defining the educational and training needs of our community. OMAC has about 500 member representatives from end-user companies, OEMs, and technology providers and integrator companies. These members include companies with vested interest in developing and implementing open control technologies for manufacturing applications. OMAC is also a charter member of The Automation Federation.

Okuma is the US based affiliate of Okuma Corporation, a world leader in the development of computer numeric controls (CNC) and machining technology, founded in 1898 in Nagoya, Japan. Known for its technology leadership and world-class manufacturing, product quality and dedication to customer service, Okuma products are used in the automotive, aerospace and defense, construction and farming equipment, oil and energy, medical, mold and die, and fluid power industries.

Partners in THINC is comprised of more than 30 manufacturing industry companies providing integrated solutions for the end-user under one facility located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Through the power of the THINC-OSP control these collaborators bring their products and expertise to create real-time solutions in real-time environments that are then ready to implement on machine shop floor.

Registration is currently open for the symposium. As space is limited, early registration is encouraged.

About OMAC
OMAC–The Open Modular Architecture Controls Users’ Group works to collectively derive common solutions for both technical and non-technical issues in the development, implementation, and commercialization of open, modular architecture control (OMAC) technologies, and to facilitate the accelerated development and convergence of industry and government developed OMAC technology guidelines to one set that satisfies common use requirements. OMAC has about 500 member representatives from end-user companies, OEM's, and technology providers and integrator companies. OMAC currently operates three Work Groups: Packaging Machinery, Manufacturing Infrastructure, and Machine Tool. OMAC is a charter member of The Automation Federation.
