September 8, 2010 – As One Technologies released Catalyst System Development Platform (SDP) version 3.4. The update features a new and enhanced OPC Agent Library which includes an OPC Server that delivers increased flexibility, connectivity and communication with a wide range of manufacturing operations devices and systems.
Catalyst SDP is the foundation of As One’s growing Catalyst suite of software applications which provide customers – manufacturers in a variety of industries, OEMs and independent software vendors – with highly flexible solutions for their workflow automation, manufacturing intelligence and systems integration needs. Catalyst SDP dramatically simplifies software and system development, allowing customers to quickly and easily develop and integrate highly disparate manufacturing systems. The software is designed to integrate with customers’ existing equipment and systems with open connectivity to a wide variety of equipment, devices, databases and protocols.
“In this release of Catalyst SDP we completely updated our OPC Agent Library and have included full OPC Server functionality,” said Jay Mellen, executive vice president of business development at As One. “We have effectively broken the OPC Server into two parts, eliminating the need for Microsoft DCOM (Distributed Component Object Model) in distributed applications. In its place we leverage Microsoft .NET and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) based services, which dramatically simplifies implementation and improves system reliability.”
Mellen continued, “In addition to the updated OPC Agent Library, which further extends our open connectivity library of agents, this release also supports new features and functionality included in upcoming versions of Catalyst xM and Catalyst PDC. The inclusion of the OPC Server in Catalyst SDP version 3.4 allows seamless communication with virtually all HMI and SCADA applications without the need for third-party software.”
