Develop Nanopositioning Applications Faster with New NI Piezo Tuning Wizard

Develop Nanopositioning Applications Faster with New NI Piezo Tuning Wizard
NEWS RELEASE -- March 4, 2003 -- National Instruments extends the power of LabVIEW and motion control software with the new Piezo Tuning Wizard. Using this free LabVIEW application, motion control developers now can easily tune and control piezo-based motors for high-precision applications such as semiconductor wafer alignment and biotechnology micro-array handling.

The Piezo Tuning Wizard gives developers the power to eliminate unwanted velocity spikes, reduce oscillations and reduce development time with an easy-to-use interface for characterizing and tuning piezo motors. Developers can also use this Tuning Wizard to take advantage of the static friction compensation feature in the new NI-Motion 5.2 driver software. Without compensation, static friction develops between two stationary surfaces, slowing responsiveness and building potentially unstable systems. However, when developers combine the Piezo Tuning Wizard with static friction compensation, they can create high-precision piezo motor applications with steady target positioning and quick reaction time.

National Instruments Motion Control Software
The National Instruments family of motion control software includes:
· Piezo Tuning Wizard -- New free software tool for tuning piezo motors in nanopositioning applications

· NI Motion 5.2 -- New driver software included with all NI motion control hardware; now features static friction compensation

· NI Motion Assistant -- Point-and-click configurable software for quick and easy motion control profile development

· NI LabVIEW -- Graphical development software for creating seamless integrated measurement applications
