September 28, 2010 — Emerson Process Management announced that its Smart Wireless solutions, using Dust Networks’ SmartMesh IA-510 wireless sensor networking, have been certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to meet government Federal Information Processing Standard-197 (FIPS-197) requirements.

"Dust Networks' SmartMesh IA-510 system is the perfect platform for Emerson's Smart Wireless products, enabling us to provide a highly reliable, scalable solution with low power consumption and built-in security," said Nicholas Meyer, Smart Wireless Gateway Manager, Emerson Process Management. "The addition of FIPS-197 certification by NIST confirms that Emerson’s offering is the most secure solution available," Meyer continued.

"Data security is a critical requirement for many wireless sensing applications. Achieving FIPS-197 certification for SmartMesh IA-510 is just the latest example of Dust Networks' on-going commitment to delivering complete wireless sensor networking solutions," added Brenda Glaze, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Dust Networks.
