Electro-Chemical Devices announces HYDRA ammonium analyzer
November 10, 2009 - Featuring reliable ISE technology, the HYDRA Ammonium Analyzer from Electro-Chemical Devices offers fast and accurate ammonium measurement for superior water quality monitoring with virtually no maintenance.

The highly intelligent HYDRA Ammonium Analyzer can be used to monitor the ammonium nutrient load directly in the aeration basin of a waste water treatment plant as well as environmental waters, lakes, streams and wells. The HYDRA Analyzer measures the concentration of dissolved ammonium nitrogen (NH4+ -N) in all kinds of water using three electrodes, an Ammonium Ion Electrode, a Potassium Ion Electrode and a pH Electrode.

The HYDRA C22 Analyzer is designed to automatically compensate for the pH dependant concentration equilibrium and potassium ion interference on the ammonium electrode. Temperature measurements are used to compensate each of the three electrode measurements. The HYDRA C22 Analyzer measures ammonium and potassium in concentrations from0.1to 1000 ppm, pH from 0 to 14 and temperature from 0 to 50°C (32 to 212°F).

Featuring a backlit LCD display, the rugged C22 Analyzer is housed in a NEMA 4X enclosure. The HYDRA Analyzer is also configured to periodically actuate a cleaning cycle using the integral spray cleaner in the sensor, minimizing the formation of biofilms or other coatings on the electrodes and keeping maintenance to a minimum. The cleaning cycles feature a user configurable period and duration. During the cleaning cycle the 4-20 mA output is held at either a preset value or the last value.

The rugged HYDRA Sensor offers 1 ¼” NPT rear facing threads for attaching an extension/immersion tube for easy installation from catwalks or handrails. Internal signal conditioning allows the HYDRA Sensor to be mounted up to 200 meters from the analyzer. The HYDRA Sensor is extremely low-maintenance, featuring a movable electrode guard to facilitate easy electrode replacement when necessary.

Designed for rugged water treatment environments, the HYDRA Sensor is submersible and waterproof with an IP68 degree of ingress protection. It measures ammonium in concentrations from 0.1 to 1000 ppm, at operating temperatures of 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F).
