Endress+Hauser Recognized As Scholarship Founding Sponsor

Donation honors memory of long-time fieldbus supporter and Foxboro executive

HOUSTON, Texas, Oct. 5, 2004 — The Fieldbus Foundation, conducting a press briefing at the ISA EXPO 2004 Exhibition & Conference in Houston, Texas, today announced that Endress+Hauser Holding AG, a recognized leader in the supply of industrial automation products, has made a $25,000 donation to the James O. Gray-Fieldbus Foundation Scholarship Fund. The donation has earned Endress+Hauser a "Founding Sponsor” designation.

The James O. Gray-Fieldbus Foundation Scholarship Fund honors the memory of James (Jim) O. Gray, a long-time Fieldbus Foundation supporter, and friend and colleague to many in the automation industry, who passed away in 2002.

The goal of the James O. Gray-Fieldbus Foundation Scholarship program is to create a perpetual $250,000 endowment fund for educational scholarships, which will provide annual awards of up to $1,000. These scholarships are awarded to students around the world interested in the industrial automation industry. The 2004 scholarship recipients will be announced at ISA EXPO 2004 in Houston.

Dieter Schaudel, Endress+Hauser Holding AG chief technical officer, chief information officer and executive board member said, “We are proud and pleased to participate in the endowment effort for this initiative. Endress+Hauser is a strong supporter and technical contributing member of many achievements in FOUNDATION™ fieldbus development.”

Mr. Schaudel continued, “Jim Gray left an example of dedication and expertise, leading others in the industry to advance their knowledge of this important technology. Endress+Hauser’s association with the scholarship demonstrates our continued commitment to furthering the adoption of fieldbus through the education and training of the industrial workforce.”

Fieldbus Foundation President and CEO Richard Timoney welcomed the Endress+Hauser Founding Sponsor donation. He said, “Endress+Hauser has contributed as a strong supporter and active member of fieldbus technology community. As a long-standing foundation member, they value education and the goals of this scholarship fund, named in honor of Jim Gray.”

Employed by Foxboro (now an Invensys unit) for 25 years as sales and marketing manager, Jim Gray was very active within the Fieldbus Foundation from its inception. He held the positions of: secretary of the foundation, member of the Executive Committee, and member of the U.S. marketing committee.

Foundation members, and those interested in the progress of the automation industry, are encouraged to participate in the James O. Gray-Fieldbus Foundation Scholarship Fund.
