Eric Byres made ISA Fellow
October 1, 2009 - The International Society of Automation (ISA) announced that they have awarded Eric Byres, the Chief Technology Officer at Byres Security Inc., the rare honour of ISA Fellow. Elevation to the distinguished grade of ISA Fellow is granted to acknowledge outstanding achievements in scientific or engineering fields as recognized by ISA peers. Eric Byres’ achievement will be recognized at the annual ISA Expo and Awards Gala on October 5th, 2009 in Houston, Texas, USA.

After founding the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) Critical Infrastructure Security Centre in 2001, Eric shaped it into one of North America’s leading academic facilities in the field of SCADA cyber security. Today, he is internationally recognized a leading expert in the field of critical infrastructure security, SCADA security, and industrial security. He has consulted on major security projects for governments, national security agencies, and multinational corporations, and currently co-chairs the ISA S99 Security Technologies Working Group. He was also responsible for the development of ISA’s security training program and received ISA awards in 2003, 2004 and 2005 for his technical writing.
