December 14, 2006 FieldServer Technologies ProtoCessor group announces the ProtoCarrier,a series of daughter cards that enable OEMs to quickly and easily interface legacy devices to modern open protocol networks without extensive board redesign. ProtoCessors are a family of Industrial Protocol Coprocessors that provide comprehensive protocol translation capability. With access to the extensive FieldServer Technologies driver library, ProtoCessor can be embedded on the device to enable the manufacturer to meet the interoperability needs of their customer. Protocols available include Allen Bradley EtherNet/IP, BACnet IP, BACnet MSTP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Metasys N2, DNP3, LonWorks and a wide variety of legacy and proprietary protocols. ProtoCarrier now enables manufacturers to add the power of ProtoCessor to their device without the need of extensive board redesign. The ProtoCarrier has either an RS-232 or RS-485 port on the host side (OEMs product) and a ProtoCessor TTL socket on the board that can accept any ProtoCessor chosen to meet their users specific need. FieldServer Technologies can preprogram the ProtoCessor to provide complete industrial or building automation interoperability. About ProtoCessor and FieldServer Technologies FieldServer Technologies, a wholly owned division of Sierra Monitor Corporation based in California, designs and markets a broad line of devices that enhance communication between various instruments, systems, machines and other devices that utilize non-compatible data protocols. The FieldServer combined with the extensive driver library makes the perfect package to achieve interoperability. Drivers included in this library are Modbus, LonWorks, BACnet, Metasys, Allen Bradley EtherNet/IP, plus drivers for fire alarm panels, controllers, and many other proprietary and legacy devices. ProtoCessor is the latest advancement from FieldServer Technologies moving gateway capability onto the device itself. |
