| Flowserve adds redundant Profibus DP to Limitorque QX and MX actuators | ||

August 11, 2009 - Flowserve announced the availability of an optional redundant Profibus DP reliability feature for Limitorque MX and QX actuators. The new redundant Profibus DP functionality is designed with two possible configurations for the redundant network. The single-master redundancy scheme involves a single controller and redundant Profibus boards in the actuator. The standby Profibus board will take control of the actuator if the primary board fails, while the primary board goes into a failed state to trigger a network alarm. In the multi-master setup, standby units are employed on both the master and slave sides to create two independent networks. A standby controller automatically assumes control of the network if the primary controller, or its wiring, is compromised. In the actuator, if the primary Profibus board fails, a standby board will take over automatically and communicate with the controller. The Limitorque QX quarter-turn design, introduced in 2009, builds on more than 10 years of experience with proven Limitorque MX technology the first-generation multi-turn smart electronic valve actuator from Flowserve. Introduced in 1997, the Limitorque MX is a smart actuator designed to provide control, ease-of-use and accuracy. This new feature will allow Flowserve Limitorque customers to increase the reliability and safety of their critical operations, said Scott Wilkerson, Product Manager, Flowserve Flow Control Division. Redundancy is essential in industries such as oil and gas, power and water where unexpected downtime can mean millions of dollars in lost revenue or equipment failures can result in hazardous conditions for plant personnel and the environment. About Flowserve Corp. Flowserve Corp. is one of the worlds leading providers of fluid motion and control products and services.
