Record demand for starter package shows rising fieldbus adoption rate

HOUSTON, Texas, Oct. 5, 2004 – The Fieldbus Foundation, conducting a press briefing at the ISA EXPO 2004 Exhibition & Conference in Houston, Texas, today announced record demand for its AT-446 Foundation fieldbus “H1 Starter Kit.” The first comprehensive package of its kind, the starter kit provides instrument suppliers with a head start in developing new devices based on the rising global adoption rate for FOUNDATION technology.

A complete, cost-effective solution for H1 fieldbus device development, the AT-446 H1 Starter Kit is value-based starter package offering a 35 percent savings over individually purchased components.

The FOUNDATION fieldbus AT-446 H1 Starter Kit features an all-inclusive test tool environment for the intermediate device developer. The kit contains a word-searchable CD copy of the most recent Foundation fieldbus specifications, including the device function block specs; the Device Description Tokenizer Kit; a one-year subscription to the Device Description Registered Library and Tokenizer for development of DD files; an H1 Interoperability Test Kit (ITK) and 16 hours of expert consulting. This package includes the tools suppliers need to immediately engage Foundation fieldbus device development.

According to Fieldbus Foundation Marketing Specialist Joe Conklin, the Foundation fieldbus AT-446 H1 Starter Kit is an important building block for device developers entering the market. “Our kit is the most comprehensive product available today to start developing FOUNDATION fieldbus devices. It is intended to smooth the way for anyone interested in implementing the technology,” said Mr. Conklin. “With the FOUNDATION fieldbus adoption rate on the rise worldwide, many device developers are looking for a fast and easy way of answering end user demand for new fieldbus products.”

Conklin indicated that inquiries about the AT-446 H1 Starter Kit have increased significantly during the past six months, with foundation members and non-members alike seeking a better understanding of the steps required to begin fieldbus product development.

User requirements for the FOUNDATION fieldbus AT-446 H1 Starter Kit include: Pentium class processor, Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP operating system and 500MB of available hard drive space.
