Foxboro Introduces New Low Profile Pressure Transmitters

HOUSTON, TEXAS, USA (ISA 2004 Exhibition) – October 5, 2004 – The Foxboro Measurements and Instruments Division of Invensys Process Systems has introduced the Low Profile™ line of I/A Series® pressure transmitters to provide greater installation flexibility and ready retrofit for any vendor’s differential pressure or multivariable transmitter. The Low Profile structure uses a compact sensor body, reducing the overall height of the transmitter and allowing use of process covers with process connections facing downward. This provides installation similar to that of competitive Coplanar™ transmitters.

“With the addition of Low Profile versions to our well established traditional structures, our customers can easily choose the version that best fits their installation requirements, whether they need a traditional Biplanar or a competitive Coplanar style mounting arrangement. The addition of the Low Profile versions also makes it easier and less expensive for instrument and maintenance personnel to replace existing transmitters and reuse existing installation designs without being limited to a single transmitter supplier,” said Ken Brown, vice president and general manager of Foxboro Measurements and Instruments.

Two Low Profile process cover designs are offered. The LP1 is a manifold-mount version designed to meet growing user requirements for transmitter installation directly on supported process manifolds. Unique tangential venting/draining allows one version to be used for liquids, gases, and vapors in both horizontal and vertical positions. The second process cover design, LP2, is not only suitable for manifold mounting, but can be bracket mounted on either a Foxboro bracket or an existing Coplanar bracket. Both LP1 and LP2 versions are available with compact three- or five-valve manifolds and are offered with an optional adapter plate to allow installation directly onto existing Coplanar manifolds.
Another benefit of the compact sensor body is that when the transmitter is installed on the same manifold or bracket as a Coplanar transmitter, one of the electrical conduit connections will be in nearly the same location as on the Coplanar transmitter, facilitating installation design and easy transmitter retrofit.
