FREE Training on Opto 22’s SNAP PAC System
Opto 22 offers FREE SNAP PAC System training classes, held at company headquarters in Temecula, California. The four-day, hands-on classes introduce PAC Project automation software, SNAP PAC programmable automation controllers, and SNAP I/O. You’ll learn about system components and configuration, networking capabilities, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and communication methods, including TCP, UDP, IP, SMTP, SNMP, FTP, and OPC.

Class size is limited to nine students, so you have your own training station and receive individual attention. Training stations are equipped with SNAP PAC hardware, PAC Project software, and a load panel for testing your programs. You’ll take your step-by-step training manual home with you for future reference.

Continental breakfast and lunch are provided all four days. The class includes a tour of the Opto 22 manufacturing facility and opportunities to meet and talk with Opto 22 employees.

Prerequisites: Students must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000, but no prior Opto 22 knowledge is required.

Course Content
Students learn to configure I/O, program control applications, and develop HMI screens. Using PAC Control, students develop their own control and data acquisition programs with easy-to-use flowcharts and OptoScript, a powerful scripting language for executing math, string handling, control loops, and other complex functions. Using PAC Display, students design their own customized operator interfaces for communicating with the SNAP PAC System and also perform real-time and historical trending and alarming.

Course outline:

  • PAC Manager: assigning IP addresses, downloading firmware, configuring optional features
  • PAC Control: configuring controllers and I/O, flowcharting, digital and analog control, tables, string handling, serial communication, OptoScripting, SNMP traps, emails, event messages, file and FTP capabilities, PID loops
