Global Leader in HMI/SCADA Technology Provides Products and Solutions To Address Toughest Monitoring and Control Issues CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, OCTOBER 24, 2006 - GE Fanuc Automation, a unit of GE Industrial, has announced a set of Municipal Water Packages specifically designed for the water/wastewater industry. Combining award-winning Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX®, Historian and Portal products together in a variety of sizes, GE Fanuc makes it easy for municipalities to obtain the solution they need for their water facilities. Operational costs are one of the largest problems water facilities face today, said Roy Kok, Senior Product Manager, Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX. By working with thousands of customers from around the world, we realized that only a world-class HMI/SCADA product could perform the monitoring and control needed to address these problems. The Municipal Water Package will allow municipalities to use all of the operational data it gathers and stores to gain insight and make the tough decisions needed to reduce energy and chemical costs. The Municipal Water Package includes: With the Municipal Water Packages, GE Fanuc allows municipalities to select the size of the system they need. They can start small and easily expand by increasing the tag size of iFIX or Historian applications, or adding Portal clients as needed. GE Fanuc has always taken an open systems approach with the design of our products, continued Kok. We support communications with all major control vendors which means municipalities will have all the data they need. GE Fanuc is a founding member of OPC and an active participant in the development and adoption of specifications today. The GE Fanuc OPC Client, Server, Alarms and Events, and the adoption of the OPC UA into new product developments means that system data is easily collected and shared with other systems, and information from other systems can be accessed by GE Fanuc software.
