Enhancements Deliver Full Integration With GE Fanuc HMI/SCADA and Expanded Third-Party File Management

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, JANUARY 25, 2007 - GE Fanuc Automation announced the availability of Version 5.60 of its Proficy™ Change Management solution. The upgrade provides enhancements with a focus on integration with GE Fanuc products and support for new third party programs and devices.

“As a manufacturer, disaster recovery and change control are crucial elements of success,” said Gimmi Filice, GE Fanuc Product Manager for HMI/SCADA products. “Proficy Change Management is a powerful solution for automating your backup and version management operations and protecting your software and engineering investments.”

Proficy Change Management is an important component of our Asset Management family of intelligent Production Management applications. It helps users meet key uptime metrics and turns manufacturing processes into a competitive advantage. With powerful capabilities including security, version management audit trails, central storage and automated backup and recovery, Proficy Change Management ensures that automation systems continue running safely and efficiently.

Proficy Change Management 5.60 includes:

Updated support for HMI/SCADA. Enhancements to Proficy Change Management facilitate tighter integration with Proficy HMI/SCADA CIMPLICITY 7.0 and the upcoming Proficy HMI/SCADA iFIX 4.5 release.

GE Fanuc is the first automation vendor to deliver embedded change management in a HMI/SCADA solution. By leveraging a HMI/SCADA system with integrated Change Management functionality, leading global manufacturers are making major improvements to the way changes to HMI/SCADA and control applications are managed throughout their production environment. The Change Management functionality enables companies to:
  • Automate backup of critical manufacturing operations
  • Detect and prevent unauthorized access and changes
  • Perform detailed audit trails on changes and revisions
  • Comply with key regulatory requirements

Installing Proficy Change Management will add the ability to manage changes to all applications, maintain historical versions of the entire application or components of an application, get detailed audit records on changes generate reports on differences between versions, and compare the latest version of archives to running systems, ensuring the right files are being used.

Enhanced Support for Rockwell PLCs. New security and audit features provide additional control over who can make changes to Rockwell PLCs. The system now allows you to restrict user operations such as the ability to Go Online, Edit Logic, Edit Data and Forcing. New Force reports allow you to identify changes to forced variables and gives you information on all forced data in the PLC.

Schneider Electric’s Concept Support. Support has been added for Schneider’s Concept software. This new functionality delivers all of the standard features of Proficy Change Management for use with Schneider Electric’s Concept programming software. Enhanced support includes the scheduled and manual compare of Concept projects. The compare is provided at a detailed level showing exactly what logic has been modified between archived versions, or between the archived version and the PLC. Users can enable a scheduled compare to detect unauthorized changes, or back up changes in the PLC automatically.

Proficy Change Management 5.60 is available immediately.
