October 10, 2011 - The HERMES AWARD ranks as one of the world's most highly prized awards for technological achievement, and for the ninth successive year Deutsche Messe AG is now inviting entries from eligible firms. The competition is open exclusively to companies and institutions that will be exhibiting their innovative products at HANNOVER MESSE 2012. The closing date for submitting entries is 22 February 2012.

In order to qualify for the award, the submitted products must have undergone industrial trials and/or already be in production, and must be particularly innovative in terms of their technological and commercial benefits.

"The HERMES AWARD guarantees extensive media coverage both for the prize-winners and for all the nominated companies. The prize presentation takes place at the official opening ceremony for HANNOVER MESSE, in the presence of senior figures from the business world, government and the research community. Previous prize-winners have used this high-profile platform to their advantage and put their company centre stage," says Dr. Wolfram von Fritsch, Chairman of the Board at Deutsche Messe AG.

An independent jury under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wahlster, Director and Chairman of the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), will choose the winning entry. Prizes will be presented to the winner and runners-up on 22 April 2012 by the Federal Minister for Education and Research, Dr. Annette Schavan, in the presence of the Federal Chancellor, Dr. Angela Merkel, and the Premier of Lower Saxony, David McAllister.

All the products nominated for the 2012 HERMES AWARD will be on display in Hall 2 at HANNOVER MESSE from 23 to 27 April 2012. They will form part of the trade fair Research & Technology.

The winner of the 2011 HERMES AWARD is Krautzberger GmbH based in Eltville. The company received the award for an innovative steam spraying system. With this technology, atomization is effected by steam instead of the more conventional compressed air.
