HMS Networks ships one millionth Anybus module
May 18, 2009: The one millionth Anybus module has rolled off the production line, marking a historic milestone with this significant figure. While it took HMS over ten years to reach this significant milestone, the actual annual shipment volume is more than 200,000 modules and HMS expects to reach the second million mark in significantly less time than the first.

"This is a great milestone for the entire HMS business and yet more proof of the fantastic growth that we are experiencing with our Anybus technology,“ says Staffan Dahlström, CEO of HMS. "This product family has been designed to connect automation devices to the ever growing variety of industrial networks. Our customers benefit from the high flexibility and increased connectivity. Thanks to the interchangeable Anybus modules, automation devices can be connected to all leading control systems irrespective of which communication network are used in the respective application."

Since its launch in 1995, the Anybus technology is continuously evolving to ensure that it uses the latest hardware and software developments. This is something Dahlström sees continuing for the foreseeable future.

"Today, our technology must continuously evolve to meet the demands of our customers and the Anybus."

The latest generation of Anybus products such as the Anybus-CC is powered by Anybus-NP30 technology, a single chip high performance network processor. "The Anybus-NP30 shows our commitment to maintain HMS's position as a leading supplier of embedded industrial network technology."

"When the first Anybus products were initially launched, they had several novelties like interchangeability with a standardized hardware and software interface independent of the network in use. This idea in particular has been a trend-setter which competitors tried to copy but never reached the same level of functionality, stability and quality."

"The Anybus concept was clearly ahead of its time when it was launched in 1995. Now - in an even more diversified market with Fieldbus, industrial Ethernet and Wireless networks – Anybus is more than ever the preferred technology for multi-network connectivity," states Staffan Dahlström.

HMS Industrial Networks is the leading independent supplier of embedded network technology for automation devices. HMS develops and manufactures solutions for interfacing automation devices to industrial networks. Development and manufacturing takes place at the head office in Halmstad, Sweden. Local sales and support is provided by the HMS branch offices in Chicago, Beijing, Karlsruhe, Milan, Mulhouse and Tokyo. HMS employs over 150 people and reported sales of €33 million in 2008. HMS was formed in 1988 and is listed on the NASDAQ OMX Nordic Exchange in Stockholm in the category Small Cap, Information Technology with ISIN SE0002136242.
