October 11, 2010 - Honeywell introduced the SMART Position Sensor 225 mm Linear Configuration. The 225 mm SMART Position Sensor senses the position of a magnet relative to a sensor from 0 mm to 225 mm [0 in to 8.86 in]. Honeywell's SMART ( Superior Measurement, Accurate, Reliable, Thinking) non-contact Position Sensor eliminates mechanical failure mechanisms, reduces wear and tear, improves reliability and durability, enhances operational efficiency and safety, and minimizes downtime. The SMART Position Sensor 225 mm Linear Configuration's two output options include analog or digital for use in control systems requiring an RS232-type interface with a 57.6 kbits/s baud rate. The device accurately measures values down to 0,14 mm [0.0055 in] analog and 0,0035 mm [0.000137 in] digital. The SMART Position Sensor's adaptable, non-contacting design allows customers to eliminate unnecessary connections for installation, thereby reducing installation time and components. The device installs in four easy steps versus up to 14 steps some competitive products require, simplifying installation and reducing costs. The SMART Position Sensor's air gap of up to 3,0 ± 2,5 mm [0.118 ± 0.098 in] between the sensor and the magnet and a variety of output options (analog standard, other RS232-type baud rates) expand application opportunities. As there are no moving parts within the sensing element, Honeywell seals the sensor, making it resistant to vibration, shock, and extreme temperatures. The SMART Position Sensor 225 mm Linear Configuration may potentially be used in the following applications: Honeywell International is a Fortune 100 diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials. Based in Morris Township, N.J., Honeywell's shares are traded on the New York, London, and Chicago Stock Exchanges. |
