| Honeywell Announces New Solution To Better Configure Hart Field Devices |
New Device Management Software Helps Process Industries Reduce Maintenance Costs and Improve Employee Productivity PHOENIX, OCT. 5 - Honeywell(NYSE:HON) today introduced the Field Device Configuration Manager (FDCM), a comprehensive solution for the management of smart devices based on the HART protocol. FDCM provides users with the freedom and flexibility to better manage and maintain HART devices, reducing maintenance costs and improving employee productivity. FDCM allows users to easily manage a large number of HART devices. It is fully compliant with the HART protocol and supports all universal, common-practice and device-specific commands described in the vendor-created HART Device Description file. The HART Communication Foundation is an independent not-for-profit organization providing worldwide support for application of HART technology. The Foundation is the technology owner and standards-setting body for the HART Communication Protocol. "The FDCM provides an optimal environment for plant instrument technicians and maintenance departments," said Jack Bolick, president of Honeywell Process Solutions. "Honeywell has worked closely with the HART Foundation to create a solution that leverages the full capabilities of a plant's smart instrumentation and works with any HART device so plants can reap the maximum value from their operations." FDCM is the first product to be based on HART Communication Foundation's DD IDE/SDC platform, the reference platform for development and qualification of HART DD files. FDCM is fully integrated with Honeywell's Experion(tm) platform, the foundation of the Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS). This deep level of integration provides greater accuracy and reliability between the process control and field devices. FDCM can be used with any DCS/PLC system from any vendor as it provides the same features and functionality working with HART devices connected to hardware multiplexers. Honeywell's FDCM has been successfully deployed at 10 sites worldwide since May 2004. Honeywell International is a $23 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials. Based in Morris Township, N.J., Honeywell's shares are traded on the New York, London, Chicago and Pacific Stock Exchanges. It is one of the 30 stocks that make up the Dow Jones Industrial Average and is also a component of the Standard & Poor's 500 Index. For additional information, please visit www.honeywell.com.
