April 5, 2011 – Honeywell announced a contract extension to provide its UniSim Design process simulation software to Shell through 2015. The simulation platform will be used by Shell sites to design and test plant processes, saving the company both time and money.

UniSim Design allows plant and process engineers to create, test and improve manufacturing processes used within industrial facilities. Shell designated UniSim Design as its preferred simulation technology in 2007 and since then, it has been used by more than 1,000 Shell simulation users worldwide to facilitate best-in-class work practices for optimized plant design and operation.

UniSim Design allows engineers to create and analyze both steady-state and dynamic models for plant design, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, operational improvement, business planning and asset management. The system is a component of the UniSim family of software and engineering services designed for the oil and gas production, gas processing, petroleum, refining and chemical industries.

“Shell is a global leader in using simulation technology, and the feedback provided over the years has helped to shape and enhance UniSim Design’s capabilities. This means the way we have designed it is based directly on customer input,” said Francois LeClerc, director of advanced solutions at Honeywell Process Solutions. “This contract extension proves the importance of simulation technology in that it does help manufacturers meet business objectives. Both money and time are saved, which is what all businesses want to achieve.”

Honeywell International is a Fortune 100 diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials.
