| Honeywell to control power plant in Turkey | ||

October 20, 2010 - Honeywell won a contract to help increase production capacity for Zorlu Energy, a leading Turkish energy supplier. Honeywell’s technology solutions – including the Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) – will be used to expand the production of energy services at Zorlu’s Lüleburgaz power plant, allowing the company to better meet demand for energy in Turkey. Honeywell is working in conjunction with Zorlu’s Operations and Maintenance Company (O&M). Honeywell will use Experion PKS to unify assets, process and people in order to give Zorlu’s operators unprecedented control of the production process and improve decision making in the control room. In addition, the alarm handling and trending features of the new system will aid operational safety. Honeywell will also install its Plant Performance Monitor which monitors key performance indicators, emissions, continuous cycle chemistry and offline “what-if” analysis. This application enables operators to resolve problems before they occur, promote the full availability of plant assets, and identify opportunities for performance improvements. The systems will be integrated with Honeywell systems already in place, including an Experion PKS. Because Zorlu operators are familiar with the Experion operating system, the ramp up of the new system can be achieved more quickly and safely. “We awarded the contract to Honeywell based on our previous, positive experience with the company,” said Halil Ibrahim Uray, automation manager, Zorlu O&M. “Their deep knowledge of our business and challenges and strong local service capabilities were reassuring given the critical nature of this project.” “As Turkey’s economy grows, so too does the need for a plentiful supply of energy,” said Naci Erakin, country leader for Honeywell Process Solutions Turkey. “The Experion system, together with the Plant Performance Monitor, will support Zorlu Energy’s efforts to increase production.
