Partnership with Tsinghua University Aims to Increase Number of Automation Professionals in China

BEIJING, Oct. 26, 2006 – Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today announced an agreement with one of China’s top universities to establish an integrated management and control laboratory in an effort to increase the country’s level of automation research, and bolster its number of automation professionals. Honeywell will donate process automation software to the Automation Department of Tsinghua University, a major base of China’s scientific research and intelligent education.

“Honeywell’s software platform can play a major role in raising the level of our world class automation scientific research and teaching capability,” said GuanXiaohong, dean of Tsinghua University’s Automation Department. “The automation software will significantly narrow the gap between theoretical education and practical application, which will greatly benefit our laboratorial education and research development.”

China’s economy has recently witnessed rapid growth. Automation professionals, both in terms of technological expertise and international experience, are in great demand due to large-scale infrastructure construction and growth of the manufacturing industry.

“Tsinghua University has produced a large number of talented automation engineers, and it’s a great honor for us to contribute to the continuing development of these professionals,” said Jack Bolick, president of Honeywell Process Solutions. “This laboratory highlights our commitment to the development of China’s automation discipline and the cultivation of its professionals. It’s also a way to contribute to the sound development of the industry by leveraging international resources and leading technology.”

Honeywell’s process control software will provide the university a comprehensive experimental platform, which will contribute to the study of new theory and development of technology and products, as well as aid in application integration and testing. Donated software applications cover every aspect of Honeywell’s process automation solutions, including the company’s process simulation, large real-time database, advanced control and optimization, manufacturing execution system, and asset management software kits.

Honeywell International is a $30 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials. Based in Morris Township, N.J., Honeywell’s shares are traded on the New York, London, Chicago and Pacific Stock Exchanges. It is one of the 30 stocks that make up the Dow Jones Industrial Average and is also a component of the Standard & Poor's 500 Index.

Honeywell Process Solutions is part of Honeywell’s Automation and Control Solutions group, a global leader in providing product and service solutions that improve efficiency and profitability, support regulatory compliance, and maintain safe, comfortable environments in homes, buildings and industry.
