| Honeywell Safety Manager attains FM Certification | ||

PHOENIX, Feb. 28, 2008 – Honeywell announced its Safety Manager platform received the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 72 Standard for Fire Protection. With the certification from Factory Mutual (FM), Safety Manager can now be used for applications where local authorities, governments and customers require a U.S.-certified NFPA 72 certificate. Safety Manager previously attained NFPA 72 certification through Germany-based TÜV. Safety Manager is designed for a wide range of industries, including hydrocarbon processing, bulk and fine chemicals, oil and gas and energy production. Safety Manager improves process-safeguarding practices such as process and emergency shutdowns, equipment protection, fire and gas monitoring and critical control. This allows engineers to design and build standalone safety applications, as well as distributed plant-wide safety topologies. A component of Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS), Safety Manager integrates with Experion alarm and event capabilities for efficient plant operation and easy operations analysis. With Experion, Safety Manager forms the platform for integrated fire and gas detectors, fire alarm panels and industry security solutions. “As more manufacturers move toward smart plants, tight integration with fire and gas detection technology will play an important role in increasing safety as well as efficiency,” said Johan School, marketing manager with Honeywell Process Solutions. “Major industries such as oil and gas, refining and chemicals increasingly emphasize fire and gas safety to protect people, property, the environment and the business.
