Honeywell's Process Knowledge Solution Selected by Wintershall Noordzee for New Offshore Gas Platform in the North Sea

Honeywells Experion PKS System to Provide Integrated Solutions

PHOENIX, March 25, 2003--Honeywell (NYSE: HON) Industry Solutions has received an order from Wintershall Noordzee for its new L5 natural gas production platform in the North Sea.

With the use of Honeywells Process Knowledge Solution, the project is expected to save considerable time and cost to Wintershall Noordzee, a division of Wintershall AG.

The solution includes a fully redundant Experion PKS Process Knowledge System for process control, FOUNDATION* fieldbus transmitters, associated implementation and project management services and a redundant Fail Safe Controller (FSC®) safety system that provides emergency shutdown and fire and gas detection capabilities for critical processes. Honeywell Process Knowledge Solutions provide companies with a complete scope of integrated solutions that include knowledge-driven systems, applications, field measurement devices and services to optimize production and improve profitability.

We expect to receive significant benefits through working with Honeywell on this project, said Wintershall Noordzees Construction Manager Mr. Taal. With Honeywells Process Knowledge Solutions, were able to deliver a total solution from the field up to integrated process control and safety systems. And, its all with related services, so we deal with just one supplier for the whole project. This translates into less confusion and project management from our side, not to mention the time and cost savings.

The L5 production platform is Wintershall Noordzees first FOUNDATION Fieldbus project. Operation of the platform will take place remotely from Wintershall Noordzees main production platform L8P4. Honeywells Distributed System Architecture will enable the new system on the L5 platform to be remotely connected with an existing Honeywell system on the L8P4 platform.

Wintershall Noordzee selected Honeywell for this project because of its remote connection capability, as well as easy, full integration between the Experion PKS and FSC systems, and the lifetime warranty that Honeywell offers on its field transmitters.

Designed for industrial operations, Experion PKS improves the control, monitoring and management of complex production processes.
The project began in December 2002; gas production is scheduled to commence in August 2003.
