ICONICS Announces New Reporting Product

ReportWorX for Microsoft.NET Is First in New Suite of Manufacturing Intelligence Applications

March 3, 2003 – ICONICS is a leader in the development of Web-enabled industrial automation software tools for Microsoft Windows, today announced its all-new GENESIS™ BizVizTM suite of Manufacturing Intelligence products. The GENESIS BizViz suite includes ReportWorXTM for Microsoft .NET, which integrates data into reports from different data sources using advanced data-mining techniques.

"This new product was designed from the ground up to take maximum advantage of Microsoft .NET and Microsoft Excel technology," states Russ Agrusa, President and CEO of ICONICS. "ReportWorX quickly and easily turns volumes of data from different data sources into valuable information!"

Powerful Microsoft .NET technology allows the data mining of virtually any industrial or corporate database. ReportWorX for .NET can integrate information from different data sources into one report. Data sources, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, SAP, OPC Historical Data Access, OPC Alarm and Events, and OPC real-time information, can all be accessed and combined to create custom reports.

Don Richardson, Director for the Manufacturing Industry Solutions Group at Microsoft, comments, "ICONICS consistently demonstrates leadership and a commitment toward developing scalable, relevant applications that incorporate the most current Microsoft technology available and are based upon open industry standards. ReportWorX for Microsoft .NET is an excellent example of this ICONICS commitment."

ARC Advisory Group Senior Analyst Dick Slansky says: "ICONICS’ release of their ReportWorX for .NET represents the first wave of HMI manufacturing intelligence products based entirely on Microsoft’s .NET framework. Even more significant is that ReportWorX is only one component of their BizViz for .NET suite, which includes applications for two-way exchange of information from the factory floor to enterprise. The .NET framework provides an open environment that enables the interoperability that collaborative manufacturing requires. ReportWorX leverages this open environment to access and integrate information from multiple data sources such as SQL Server, Oracle, SAP, OPC, and others to produce reports based on Microsoft Excel. Accessing real-time factory floor data and converting it to usable information in open Web services-based architecture will be critical to a true collaborative manufacturing environment. ICONICS appears committed to moving HMI to this next generation technology."

ReportWorX is a complete reporting system that manages data in Microsoft Excel workbooks and performs all the data collection from real-time OPC as well as any database. Results are automatically sent to local or remote disk drives, redundant printers, PDF files, computer screens, or faxes, or are published to Web servers. Reports can also be e-mailed to the entire organization.

ReportWorX includes a powerful international language-switching capability, which is ideal for organizations that require reports in different languages. Reports containing text, engineering units, currency calculations and more can be automatically generated in different languages and sent via e-mail to the entire organization.

Reports can automatically be published to Web servers, so that any user can access reports using a Web browser over the Internet or within a secure corporate intranet. ReportWorX includes a powerful Web-based navigation and management system, giving users the capability of reviewing archived reports as well as managing report execution and schedules over the Web.
