ICONICS Announces OPC ToolSuite 3.1

Support for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET

Houston, TX, ISA ‘03 – October 21, 2003 — ICONICS, a leader in the development of Web-enabled industrial automation and business visualization software for MicrosoftÒ WindowsÒ operating systems, today announced that its OPC ToolSuite™ now includes supports for Microsoft Visual Studio® .NET 2002 and 2003. This powerful toolkit allows users to quickly develop state-of-the-art OPC servers as well as ActiveX® OPC clients that conform to the latest OPC specifications for real-time data, alarms, and events, including OPC Data Access (DA) 3.0 and OPC XML DA 1.0. OPC ToolSuite is the industry’s first suite of OPC tools that integrates OPC Data Access, OPC XML, and OPC Alarm and Events in one toolkit.

“ICONICS continues to be OPC-To-The-Core™," states Russ Agrusa, President and CEO of ICONICS. “Adding .NET technology to our OPC toolkit allows developers of OPC servers and clients to take advantage of Web-enabling, firewall, and IT friendly technology."

"The marketplace is seeking updated OPC tools that comply with the latest OPC standards," says Craig Resnick, Research Director at ARC Advisory Group. "ToolWorX™ appears to meet that requirement along with those of the OPC developers, who need the ability to build both OPC clients and servers from a single toolkit."

OPC ToolSuite Version 3.1 supports all required OPC COM interfaces, as well as several optional interfaces. All the documentation on how to create OPC servers and sample code is packaged with the toolkit.

Developers can also use ToolWorX to create OPC-based ActiveX clients. These clients can be used in any ActiveX container, allowing connections to real-time OPC data and OPC alarms and events. Users can embed an OPC-enabled ActiveX control into Microsoft Visual Basic®, HTML pages, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and several other containers; these off-the-shelf applications become intuitive OPC clients that can be used to Visualize Your Enterprise™.

ICONICS has been providing award-winning, industrial automation and business visualization software for over 15 years, and has successfully deployed more than 100,000 solutions worldwide.
