| InduSoft Adds WinCE-to-SQL Connectivity |
Upgrade protects operational integrity and includes A-B interfaces Houston, Texas October 5, 2004 An upgrade to InduSoft Web Studio introduced at ISA 2004 in Houston includes an embedded, easy to configure interface to SQL relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MS Access, MySQL and othersdirectly from Windows CE devices. In addition, new redundancy capabilities protect data and operational integrity by performing an automatic switchover to a backup system in case of primary failure. Connecting Windows CE data to enterprise databases InduSoft is committed to using industry accepted standards. InduSoft Web Studio V6.0 SP3 uses ActiveX Data Objects (ADO) to provide a complete solution to integrating data from the plant floor on a Windows CE or any Microsoft operating system with corporate databases. This solution serves the many instances when a user needs to store data locally and then synchronize it with a server database. A typical example would involve storing short-term data in a local database on a Windows CE device using Microsoft SQL Server Mobile edition, and then synchronizing periodically with a corporate database such as Microsoft SQL Server. InduSoft Web Studio provides this functionality without using a gateway between the Windows CE device and the database server. Enhanced redundancy protects operational integrity InduSoft Web Studio V6.0 SP3 includes expanded redundancy. It is now incorporated at all levels to ensure continuous, reliable operation of the process control system. Automatic switchover and recovery: InduSoft Web Studio V6.0 SP3 can be configured so that a secondary system takes over automatically if the primary system fails. All main HMI functions are transferred so that critical data acquisition, alarming, logging and security operations continue. During normal operation, the primary collects data from the devices and updates the secondary. In the event of failure, the secondary system automatically begins to collect data from the devices, assuring alarm states and point values are accurate. Once the primary system comes back on line, InduSoft Web Studio synchronizes the secondary system with the primary system. Web Server redundancy: InduSoft Web Studio now provides redundancy for web servers. If the web server fails while a user is viewing an InduSoft Web Studio application connected through a standard web browser, it will automatically and transparently roll-over to another web server without user intervention. Multiple database synchronization: Another enhancement to redundancy capability enables an InduSoft Web Studio application to synchronize with two different databases. InduSoft Web Studio can be configured to store data on both databases at the same time, or in a store-and-forward design. In this case the primary database collects all the data and forwards the information to the secondary in case of a failure. If one database fails, the other picks up automatically and transparently. The solution is flexible, allowing the user to configure different database types for the primary and secondary and support both local and remote databases. A-B interfaces now come built-in Another new feature is an import wizard for Allen-Bradley RSLogix control software. This feature provides an easy-to-configure interface to ControlLogix families of processors, allows the user to import the tags from the PLC program, and creates the communication interface automatically. InduSoft Web Studio runs in native Windows NT, 2000, XP, Embedded XP CE 3.0 and CE .NET environments and conforms to industry standards such as Microsoft .NET, OPC, DDE, ODBC, XML, SOAP, and ActiveX. About Indusoft Founded in 1997, InduSoft provides a powerful family of industrial software products for developing applications in process supervision, automation and control for Windows 2000, NT, XP and CE operating systems.
