Intermec Opens Shanghai Service Center


EVERETT, Wash., October 18, 2005 - Intermec Technologies has opened a service center in Shanghai, China to provide local language support and repair services for Intermec handheld devices, printers and other products. The center streamlines customer service and reduces costs for Intermec customers in China.

The Shanghai service center eliminates many of the customs fees to ship product in and out of China and reduces repair turnaround time from six weeks to just days. Through the new center, Intermec maintains an in-country service inventory in China and offers maintenance contracts for fast, affordable service on demand. Intermec customers across China will now receive service consistent with the standards enjoyed by enterprises in the Americas and EMEA.

"Since Intermec opened its Shanghai service center, we have received rapid response times on our repairs and parts orders," said CL Solutions General Manager Joseph Tan. "And because the support is in Chinese, it's so much easier for us to do business."

The new center is the latest in a series of initiatives by Intermec to provide globally consistent standards for customer response, and carries out Intermec's strategy to strengthen Asian programs. Intermec maintains 18 service depots and through its certified service partners offers more than 80 local repair facilities around the world to service its full range of products.
