Intermec PM4i First RFID Gen 2 Printer to be XMLReady™ for Oracle MSCA/WMS Systems

EVERETT, Wash., Sept. 2005 - Intermec Technologies Corp. today announced that its Intellitag® PM4i printer is the first RFID Generation 2 printer to be XMLReady™ for Oracle® Mobile Supply Chain Application/ Oracle Warehouse Management. The PM4i reduces the complexity and lowers the total cost of ownership by eliminating the need for middleware to translate the XML-based information from the Oracle system to proprietary printer languages.

The PM4i simplifies the production of RFID Gen2 labels by accessing MSCA/WMS information using XML data strings directly from the system. Intermec, a Certified Advantage Partner in the Oracle PartnerNetwork, has made the printer Oracle-ready right out of the box, with no need to learn printer command languages, develop special programming or use bar code libraries or fonts.

The multi-protocol RFID PM4i printer integrates into manufacturing, warehouse and logistics applications, ensuring all items are RFID-labeled and tracked for quick and accurate data collection throughout a supply chain. The printer simultaneously encodes and prints smart labels that can be used worldwide, allowing an RFID tag to be read via multiple frequencies, depending on regional standards.

The Intermec PM4i is a "smart printer" capable of executing user-defined programs, eliminating the need for a personal computer normally required to drive a printer. It operates additional hardware, such as scanners, other printers and conveyors; it can access information from the network host and offers the ability to change with future demands, for additional investment protection.

The XMLReady Gen 2 PM4i printer, available now for shipment worldwide in November, is part of Intermec's family of Gen 2 RFID products, which includes smart labels, the IF5 fixed smart reader, IF4 fixed serial reader, and the IV7 mobile vehicle reader.
