EVERETT, Wash., December 21, 2006 - Intermec Inc. is now shipping the SR61 rugged handheld wireless scanner, the first scanner available with a choice of all Intermec scanning options: standard range area imager, MEMS laser or linear scanning. The SR61 allows companies to standardize on a single form factor and choose the scanning technology that best suits their application needs, from low-light environments to highly dense or difficult to read barcodes. The SR61 provides fast and easy communication with Intermec handheld or vehicle mount terminal products and with standard PCs. With no cables to tangle, stretch or break and a Class 1 Bluetooth radio with up to 100 feet of range, users can take the SR61 to the product being scanned, lessening the likelihood of damage to the device and increasing productivity. Designed to collect data in physically demanding industrial environments such as manufacturing, warehousing, transportation and logistics, all configurations of the SR61 are compliant with the Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) international directive. The SR61 is the first scanner to offer Intermec's new MEMS laser scan engine, which operates more quickly than traditional lasers and does not require an internal motor, resulting in fewer points of failure. Intermec's Vista linear imager scan engine is also available for the SR61, offering a reliable and inexpensive scanning solution for poorly printed or damaged barcode labels. For users who are expanding to use with 2-dimensional barcodes, Intermec's area imager configuration is available. Intermec's area imager delivers unmatched motion tolerance and scanning speeds. SR61 accessories include easily swappable batteries, a desktop charger and multi-bay chargers that allow customers to charge more than one battery at a time, a belt holster and dangle suspension for unobtrusive, easy access to users on forklifts or boom ladders.
