November 16, 2010 - Invensys Operations Management entered a contract with Bluewater (Glas Dowr) NV, a company specializing in the design, development, lease and operation of tanker-based production and storage systems.

Invensys will update the legacy distributed control system (DCS) and safety systems aboard the Glas Dowr floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit, which will be operating approximately 170 kilometers south of the Timor-Leste coast in the Timor Sea. Invensys will supply its Foxboro I/A Series distributed control and Triconex critical control solutions, as well as fire and gas detection systems, instrumentation, smoke detection systems, cabinets and consoles. The company will also provide engineering, project management, installation, training, design, commissioning and start up services.

“Our innovative plug-in migration technology is the key differentiator to providing the smoothest transition at the lowest cost,” said Dirk van der Meulen, account manager, Invensys Operations Management. “It is important to commission the Bluewater project within the available timeframe and within budget. Our highly experienced Invensys migration team is cooperating closely with Bluewater’s engineering team not only to meet the challenging time schedule, but also to help them achieve control and safety excellence. This open project approach and mutually agreed target cost model will mitigate project risks and reduces Bluewater’s overall investment.”

The Glas Dowr FPSO is leased by Eni, the largest oil and gas company in Italy. The Glas Dowr will be stationed in the Kitan oil field located between Australia and Timor-Leste. Invensys has also provided the distributed control, safety and automation systems for the Bleo Holm, the sixth Bluewater-designed, built, owned and operated FPSO.
